Business Studies

Introduction

Business Studies in St Joseph’s College aims to provide pupils with an insight into the world of work. By choosing to study Business Studies, pupils will have the opportunity to explore how businesses function and learn about their main processes and essential business operations.

The knowledge and understanding that pupils develop is invaluable for approaching the world of work. Business Studies offers an excellent basis for those wishing to follow careers in management, marketing, business accounting, human resources, manufacturing and business journalism as well as those interested in continuing on to further education.

The Business Studies department aims to:

- develop and apply pupil knowledge, understanding and skills to understand today’s issues in local, national and global contexts;

- actively study business to develop as effective and independent learners and as critical

and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds;

- be aware of pupils’ career needs and provide them with appropriate skills and knowledge for the business world.
