Introduction
Our department is characterised by a strong sense of collaboration and enthusiasm for our subject areas and our pupils. We enjoy an excellent working relationship with staff from other departments both at our school and at others. The department’s main aim is to achieve the highest possible standards for all of our pupils. We hope that pupils will enjoy their work in English and strive to ensure that our curriculum offers a rich and diverse range of learning experiences.

Tracking takes place three times throughout the school year.
Key Stage 4
At GCSE Level we study the CCEA Specification. Pupils sit the Unit 1 exam at the end of Year 11 and they sit the Unit 4 exam at the start of Year 12. If pupils need the opportunity to resit either exam, this will be arranged for May/June of their Year 12.
Controlled Assesments will be ongoing throughout Year 11 and Year 12.

Unit 2: Speaking and Listening: Controlled Assessment: 20%
Unit 3: Studying Spoken and Written Language:Controlled Assessment: 20%
